hello Khristy !

the expanded version

ok, lard-ites: the big expanded version of my previous post with more massing strategies... should i add color? i kind of like it in b+w but it does seem a little bland that way too. however, there is a hella lot of yellow on my first panel.

i'm thinking it's time we post our 1-2 page smash description of our projects. say by tomorrow? don't be pussies.

the old school way to 3d print

don't know if you guys have already seen this:

http://www.lego.com/eng/factory/design/

you can design your own lego object, and order it -- BIG showed me this crazy animation they made for a huge building project they just won in copenhagen of the legos being built up into the building, then the actual product which they ordered from lego and gave to the client.

awesome?

hagel for president?

hagel in gq. he sounds like a republican we couls stomach if we lost...

make it up

seriously. make it all up. here's one for the headshot.

i didn't sign up for this

so totally unrelated, but given the mad flurry of posts from the flare, thought i would throw one in. BIG wants everyone to prepare short "biographical presentations" of themselves for tmrw's studio meeting, in his words, a few examples of your work, a headshot, ... and somehow i have to too. even tho borat said, i think that would be better done individually if you just want to see our portfolios. to which BIG said, its not meant to be a striptease.

did i mention he then proceeded to sing the words from the real borat's "national anthem" during drinks?

diener & diener

ad, i was telling cheng and yao about diener & diener...

so i've had difficulty finding images, but i did find a little on their addition to the swiss embassy in berlin (we could have seen it!).
i thought ritchie might like this image, but there are 9 others.

herpes in the corridor

atkinson

done yet?

no posts in our absence, ad...we were expecting major graphics...what did you do while we were gone?

boning zaha

conversationally, that is. i did a search on him because curious and everything is about how he loves himself. as for his reported hotness...cheng'd do him.
some terrorist finger puppets for you to play with while we're gone, ad. you can buy them at moss. there are gay marriage ones, too.

left-brained?

i must need sleep as for a second, in my peripheral vision, i thought it was snowing in my office. just a flurry, nothing serious, but still.

i'm also getting strange pains in the back of my skull--only on the left side. which side is that?

i wish i had a rifle to spoon with.

Cats in the Cradle

Ok, even though I swear that I am feverishly writing my research doc, I couldn't resist... Leave it to the marines to replace macho-manliness with the space (and heat!) efficiency of a good old-fashioned spoon.

Urning it the easy way

No better way than this to get your audience attuned before your Friday review, Ms. Flare...

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

omg

have you guys seen this? seriously, the tackiest webpage in architecture.

city tower project

do you guys have any information on kahn's philly city tower project in your libraries? or in your brains?

Monday, January 15, 2007

huh

i didn't realize you two had already started posting. no i never listened to much led...we were too engrossed with nirvana and pearl jam to realize what had come before.

one of the more interesting websites i came across when i was researching the elderly:
shrinking cities

kind of makes that movie children of men seem pretty realistic.

getting the led out

i love working at night.

i'm getting the led out and making a disc for christy as she recently revealed that she has never listened to led zeppelin very much. i mean, shouldn't that be a LARD requirement?

Global Swarm'n

A list that facilitates the location of large overnight (Wal-Mart) parking lots for would-be road travelers. Click on a state map to the right. Illinois for example. Behold the wealth.

With that in mind, this is kind of shocking.

what does it mean to be the Flare?

there are several fat deposits in pig carcasses. the Flare is found in the loin and around the kidneys. it produces the finest LARD, sometimes called leaf LARD.

i have chosen to be the Flare not in arrogance, but in hope. of course, at the end of the semester, when each LARD member has completed his or her thesis, it will become clear to all who read and check this blog who the Flare truly is. or perhaps we will find that someone is actually the BackFat, or the Crackling. perhaps no one is LARD at all, but Shortening.
